Wave of Light

Every year on October 15th, families around the world light candles at 7:00 PM in their local time zone to honor babies gone too soon. This international tradition, known as the Wave of Light, takes place on Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day. As candles are lit from one time zone to the next, a continuous wave of light travels around the globe in remembrance of our angel babies.

After bringing this tradition to Algona for the first time in 2025, I’m honored to continue creating a local space where families can gather, remember, reflect, connect, and speak the names of the babies we carry with us every day.

Whether you are a parent of an angel, a family member or friend supporting someone you love, or simply someone who wants to stand alongside families in our community, please join us!

“As we light our candles, you light the stars.

Shine on, sweet babies. Your legacy only grows.”

Registration for 2026

Registration opens Wednesday, September 2nd and closes Friday, October 2nd.

This year, we are asking all expected attendees to register so we can better prepare for the number of adults and children joining us. Your registration will ask for basic contact information, the number of people attending with you, and any food allergies we should be aware of. You can find this registration by scrolling down below.

Want Your Angel Baby Recognized During the Ceremony?

The registration form will also give you the opportunity to submit your angel baby’s name. Registered angel names will:

→ Be included in the event program

→ Be read aloud during the candlelight ceremony

You will also have space to provide a phonetic pronunciation of your baby’s name (that simply means telling us how the name sounds when spoken so we can honor them by saying it correctly).

You do not need to attend in person for your baby’s name to be included and read aloud. If you will not be attending but would still like your angel recognized, simply indicate that zero adults and zero children will be attending when completing your registration.

A Very Important Registration Note

Once you submit the registration form, you should receive a confirmation email letting you know we successfully received your information.

If you do NOT receive that confirmation email within 24 hours, please check your spam/junk folder and then reach out to me directly. We want to make absolutely sure every registration, and every angel baby submitted to be recognized, makes it to us.

Support the Caden’s Farm Memorial Fund

Wave of Light is deeply connected to the heart behind Caden’s Farm Memorial Fund and the reason this event means so much to our family. The fund was created in Caden’s memory and supports the Obstetrics Department at KRHC, including efforts to enhance patient care and provide additional support for families who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss.

If you feel called to support this work, you can learn more about the fund or make a donation using the links below.
